What is an essential oil?

It is an aromatic liquid found in flowers, trees, roots and seeds.  They are extracted from plants through steam distillation and support various types of medical properties such as anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal , anti-viral, and they support the immune system.

Essential oils work in harmony with the body by: 

  • Fighting cold symptoms

  • Relaxing your body

  • Soothing sore muscles

  • Healing skin conditions

  • Improving digestion

  • Hormones

  • Spiritual reasons


How are Essential Oils Used?

  • Aromatically: Once you add your preference of oils to your diffuser they are then dispersed in a micro-fine vapor, allowing the oils to be suspended into the air for an hour or more. You can infuse essential oils any where creating a spa-like experience.

  • Dry Evaporation: You can add a few drops on a cotton ball and place in a vent or anywhere in your home. I like to use this method for my trash cans using the purification oil. It always smells so clean and fresh.

  • Spray: Add your favorite oil to a water-based solution, shake it, and spray in the air. What a way to freshen up your home or car.

  • Topically: You can apply certain oils directly on the skin, but there are some that may need to be diluted with a carrier oil. Please note that essential oils are not water soluble they are fat soluble, so they should not be mixed with water.

  • Internally: What I like most about Young Living Oils is that they have created a line just for your dietary and culinary needs. This line is called "Vitality" approved by the FDA.
